DSIP 5mg (Delta Sleep Inducing Peptide), a naturally occurring nonapeptide for sleep research.
DSIP (Delta Sleep Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide first isolated from rabbit brain in 1974 by Swiss researchers. It is found endogenously in human brain tissue, blood plasma, and cerebrospinal fluid, suggesting a physiological role in sleep regulation and other biological processes.
The peptide sequence (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, or WAGGDASGE) is highly conserved across mammalian species. Research has examined DSIP’s effects on sleep architecture, particularly its influence on delta wave (slow-wave) sleep patterns that are associated with restorative sleep phases.
Studies have investigated DSIP’s mechanisms of action, including its effects on neurotransmitter systems, stress hormone regulation, and circadian rhythm modulation. Research has explored its interactions with serotonergic, GABAergic, and glutamatergic systems in various experimental models.
Additional research has examined DSIP’s potential effects on stress responses, pain perception, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis function. The peptide’s presence in multiple tissues and its diverse biological activities make it an interesting research tool for studying sleep and stress physiology.
